Yokley Racing traveled to the west coast for Round 1 of the 2011 WORCS series in Taft, CA. The team unveiled its new hauler and race machines for 2011. The all new 2011 Polaris RZR XP 900 was being raced for the first time. With a short time period for preparation, the RZR used very few specialty parts, and the motor, transmission and clutches were stock. This is the only side by side machine available that you can race competitively in basically stock configuration in the top level classes. Polaris hit another “Home Run” on this new model!

The 45 minute UTV race started out great for the Yokley Racing team, running 1st and 2nd at the start. Scott Kiger led the 1st lap with Yokley close behind. Yokley had Dirt Wheels Magazine editor Brad Howe as his passenger. Yokley was running maybe a little too close, as his radiator got clogged by the roost off the RZR. The overheating forced him to the pit area where the crew cleaned the dirt from the radiator. Meanwhile, Kiger landed off of a big jump with full power on, and snapped a rear axle, eventually ending his day early. William was able to finish the race at a reduced pace. Both team drivers were very optimistic about the season, as the Polaris was working great before the set backs. The team will correct the early problems, and be ready for Round 2 on Feb. 26 in Primm, NV.
