I've got some exciting news from Racer Tech and this is literally just the beginning of a lot of new stuff finally coming over the next couple months from us. We've been working hard for a long time on developing and testing new products and rapidly increasing our production capacity to meet the demand of our existing products as well as new stuff as we release it. We feel the time has come to start sharing this with the market.
We're starting by reintroducing our front bumpers which were made famous back in 2007 when we designed and produced the world’s first “Rigid Mount Front Bumpers” for the Polaris RZR 800. We found very early on the typical upper mounting points Polaris and most every other aftermarket company offers is "less than ideal" to say the least. Any time a driver hits much more than a brush pile the radiator is susceptible to major punctures from the upper mounting tabs of the bumper which is mounted to very, very thin metal tabs on the chassis. Almost ALL the punctures we’ve seen have been enough to end a day, no matter where you are on the trail. Racer Tech's solution was to design a system which ties further back on the frame in to a very solid point which is able to absorb the energy transfer without affecting anything else which would affect the machines performance.
We initially released the FB2 design seen above which eliminated the front sway bar on the 50” RZR’s and bolted right in to the RZR S / 4. This was a huge hit right away but we also received many request for a Rigid mounting solution for the 50” RZR owners who wanted to retain the use of their OEM front sway bars. This was the point when we released the FB3 bumper seen here.
Since the RZR XP 900 came out and created the need to come up with another mounting system we decided it would be a good time to revisit our bumper design while we’re at it. The result is a better looking bumper which is even more functional with less weight.
Our new front bumper design is now the standard design for all RZR models and comes as two different versions; Our MX bumper is the lighter option without any upper tubing. The Baja version is the same as the MX bumper with the addition of an upper hoop with side bracing. Both versions are available in our original FB1, FB2 or FB3 versions for all model RZR 800’s as well as also for the RZR 570 now.
The RZR XP 900 models all use either the original FB1 style mounting or the FB3 style Rigid Mount which ties in to the chassis up by the dash bar with our brand new proprietary Skeleton Clamps (patent pending).
The key improvements we’ve made to our new bumper design is an integral skid plate built in to the base of the bumper which not only increases strength but also drastically improves the front approach angle of the machine. With our new bumper design the approach angle is almost as good as a machine without a bumper. To improve upon the new design we took our experience and applied it to another industry first “Bash Plate”. The Bash Plate is a new idea we came up with to protect the most commonly impacted area of the bumper and also increase the skid plate’s thickness at the most crucial point without excessively increasing the overall weight of the bumper. The new Bash Plates all come in black powdercoat and are available separately for replacements whenever needed.
Our RZR XP 900 bumpers will fit all years and models. The FB3 style bumpers use larger 1.25” steel tubing for the Rigid Mount bracing and tie into our indestructible Skeleton Clamps for the ultimate in strength. For customers who want to retain the use of the front fascia side flares we have placed the tubing in an ideal position for trimming the plastic to clear the tubes as well.
As always our bumper will allow use of a winch on the OEM mounting locations and can be customized to almost ANY level per a customer’s request. Another constant is Racer Techs commitment to manufacturing within the USA. All of our products are made by hand with American steel right here in Holland, MI.
These bumpers are all is stock and shipping daily for all models including the RZR 570, all RZR 800 models and all RZR XP 900 models. Feel free to call, email or PM with any questions and we’ll be happy to help.
Thanks!
