Don't buy from Dick's

PITTSBURGH (AP) - A sporting goods chain says it's suspending sales of modern rifles nationwide because of the school shooting in Connecticut.

Dick's Sporting Goods also says it's removing all guns from display at its store closest to Newtown, where the massacre took place.

Authorities say a gunman killed 26 people, mostly children, with a military-style rifle at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday after killing his mother. He then killed himself.

A statement posted on Dick's corporate website expresses sympathy for the victims' families. It says sales of modern sporting rifles will be suspended during "this time of national mourning."

It's not clear how long the suspension will last. A spokesman for Dick's did not immediately return a call for comment on Tuesday.

Pittsburgh-based Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. has more than 500 stores in 44 states.

They don't need our business with this attitude!

I'm confused,why do you say it's a bad thing because they aren't selling assault rifles for a while?

until we address this as it is. the problem will continue.
Stopping good people from buying guns will not stop these shootings.
bad people want a gun , they can damn well get it.
all these people that do this sort of stuff is insane. The question that needs to be answered is
why are thay so messed up and what to do about it. Suspending selling guns is not going to
change a thing but satisfy a few people. Alot more people die in car crashes everyday
than any other thing in the world. You don't see people stop selling cars.

Let me 1st say,I'm not against guns,but I don't really see a reason to sell assault rifles except for our military and police departments.if the killers mom hadn't "legally " purchased the assault rifle,some of those kids may have escaped.

BS!! If he hadnt had an AR he would have used a shot gun and his pistols. Same affect he would just have reloaded more. If the US would quit pussy footn around and realize that in these times we need armed guards at ALL our schools and more armed citizens on the streets and watch crime drop.

I agree that the schools need armed guards today,but you'll never convince me that you could do as much damage with a shotgun or pistol that an assault rifle can do.

If rifles are band they will use shotguns , you can buy them anywhere.
a Shotgun with right ammo will kill 2 or 3 people in one shot. and will be much more devastating.
I agree with you on the fact the average joe really does not need an M-16 or a AK-47
But i don't want someone to tell me i can not buy one if i want too. I would like to keep
that right as long as i am a law abiding citizen . Thats all i am saying.
Most people buy guns like these for sport or to collect. There is just a few rotten apples
that messes it up for everyone. I personally do not own one. And most likely would not buy
one , as i have no use for it. But i still do not want the government to tell me one more
thing i can not do......

For the record , i heard Walmart pulled all 223 simi automatic rifles from there stores
and walmart .com today.....

Another thing i wanted to say about what you said about legally purchased guns.
The guy that shot the kids was mentally ill , we know that.
So here is an example , Last time we all went riding , Me , heath , Ronnie , and Marty
and several others , all took turns in the woods shooting each others guns.
Ok , one of us hands the other his fully loaded gun to shoot. and one of us snaps
We could kill everyone standing there. and all our guns even though hand guns were all
purchased legal . I know this sounds crazy , but it could happen. I guess what i am saying
is if someone had a .45 automatic pistol with 10 clips in his pocket. he will kill just
as many people as you will with that rifle. So the gun is not the problem We are.
if rifles are banned they will just kill with another weapon. We got to find out what is wrong with these folks.
we can't have nut cases walking the streets. I am sad to say , i bet this will happen again.
and its got to stop , but the type of gun i don't think is the problem.

Well , I was going for 100% , what was the 1 % i lost. I will try to do better.....

I dont even believe that nut killed those kids with the bushmaster, i watched the news from the minute it came on about the killing and the police released several statements saying that the bushmaster 223 was found in the back seat of the car and a glock 10mm and a sig sauer 9mm was found with the dead gunmen. I think the police or somebody high up changed the story to make it more sensational and get the liberals huffing and puffing about assault weapon bans again . If he did use one it really changes nothing as you can buy 30 round mags for glocks too, but nut jobs are like lightning you never know where or when they will strike. in this case a whole town new this kid was a head case, many including police knew his mother had guns they should have stepped in and intervened and maybe this would not have happened.
Maybe we need to ban box cutters and jet planes, they are responsible for more deaths in the US than assault weapons,that is if you think like a liberal and put the blame for bad things on a inanimate object rather than the perpetrators.

You are right , now i think of it they did say the rifle was in the car.
He never went back to the car. he killed his self in the school.
So he shot all them kids with a pistol.

BTW add Cheaper Than Dirt to that list as well

Starbucks are the real dicks, some soldiers in Afghanistan recently sent starbucks a letter telling them how much they liked their coffee and would it be possible to send some to the troops.
