| The little spring on top is supposed to keep preload on the big spring when the shocks top out. The gates carbon belt works great. I smoked my stock belt several times once I put the 30s on it so I figures for 84 bucks I would try the gates belt. It seems to grip a lot better than the stock belt. Also the 1000 has more weight on the front so it turns in the corners when you want it too unlike the 8 and 900 which seem to be too light. | |

| Scott your comments irrelevant you have only had yours for two months I do think the Gates carbon fiber belt is a good one. I put one on my 900 and had 0 issues with it. | |

| And yes I also have been watching the other forums and dont really get the warm and fuzzy feeling about going to get one with the bending shocks blowing belts tail lights staying on drive line rattel. I understand when you make as many machines as Polaris not all of them will be perfect but that many people having the same issues tells me their is a design or manufacturing problem. | |

Yeah, I know what the little spring on the back shocks is there for. A couple of companies are already scraping those and installing dual springs that actually function a LOT better with cross over rings. That is the route I am going. As far as the belt issue goes, I ordered a Alba CVT housing temperature gauge yesterday. At least I can keep an eye on it and see what is going on. I also ordered an in line blower. I will install the gauge before I ride Saturday. Then next week I will install the blower and see how much difference it makes.

Yep, I worry about it too. I have had the tail light problem, at the dealership before we loaded it. They fixed it in a couple of minutes. I have read the stories about all the belt problems out west. I have about 160 miles on mine but not hard miles so my fingers are crossed and I have 2 spare belts. At least I can change them without laying on the ground, having to remove the skid plate and trying to hold up the battery tray with the battery in it and all the wires coming out of it while trying to remove the cover and change the belt. I agree, neither Can Am or Polaris is perfect, people just have to figure out what has the least problems for the places they ride and their driving style.

| Well keep the updates and findings coming. I have read about the issue with the tail lights also, what did they have to do to fix that? Scott hasnt had any issues with his but I also think he is sponsored by Tampax or Vagisil also. | |

Scott hasnt had any issues with his but I also think he is sponsored by Tampax or Vagisil also. They pulled the dash out, blew the water out of the switch and switch connector then put a drop of silicone in the hole that was in the dash from the factory for some reason.
