Easy clean up ????? Empty
PostSubject: Easy clean up ?????   Easy clean up ????? EmptyWed May 26, 2010 10:18 am

I read on another site about a guy that was sealing his deck with Thompsons water seal and had an idea to put it on his rzr. He claimed it worked awesome for the mud and dirt that nothing would stick and it was easy to clean the rzr.....

Well, I spent about 6hr cleaning the rzr spotless to work on it (ball joints, wheel bearings, cv joint etc). After I got it cleaned and dried, I thought what the heck I'm going to try the waterseal trick....I took my touch up paint sprayer at about 40psi and sprayed thompsons water seal all under it and only the passenger side fenders and door for comparison for when I get to ride again. I did keep it away from all the rubber boots, hoses etc...

The sealer gives everything I nice shiny new look and I think that this guy may be on to something......What do guys think the outcome will be? Do you think the water seal will keep the mudd off? Will it be bad for the plastic and in time do any harm?

Yeah...my only worry would be if rocks hit it, would it chip or what? Let us know...it sounds like it may be a great idea.

have you ever seen a jeep with faded out fender flares where they look almost white .It will do the same thing to the black plastic parts and fender flares on your rzr after a little while of use

Thanks for the heads up on that. I know where your coming from. I have a new 09 jeep Wrangler and the fender flares on it are already faded pretty bad and look white even though I've kept armorall on them.

I did think the water sealer might cause the rzrs flares to dry out and turn white but then again I was thinking that the sealer cant be near has hard on the outside plastic as I am . I'll probably have it all scratched off after the next ride. 729242

I'm always experimenting with the rzr and I tried the black spray foam a while back and let me tell you it was a mess! Never again will I play with that stuff.
It might be ok but I just didn't have the patients with it. If anybody wants to try it to fill in the voids with it I would suggest to do it a little at a time. It takes a long time for it to expand and if you use a lot at once it wont dry in the middle. I found that out when I was trimming it on the flares.......I cleaned it all out

I don't remember the name of it but the dirt track guys use some kind of spray that is supposed to help get rid of the mud really easy. You might check with someone that races dirt track and see.

Now that you mentioned it, that sounds right, mudd off. I haven't heard about the babyoil & water deal but it sounds like it might work good.

On my old mud bikes I used STP Sun of a gun. It's cheep and really helps with clean up. And look better than new with a fresh coat. Just spray it on and let sit. Or you can wipe off the excess if you like.
