Do any of you use the sythetic cable? If you do, do you use something on it to keep it from freezing?

I purchased a new rope (after it broke 4 times). We went out riding during a snow storm, dumped off in a creek, and got her stuck. Brand new rope just snapped. Custom Splice sent me a new one and a new fairlead, but I think it was because it was frozen.

2 cents anyone?

I have the rope on mine and have had it on a couple of 4 wheelers. I have also helped people winch that had the rope. I have never seen a problem with them. I have the rope on my Jeep on a 9500# winch and never had a problem. However, I have see a LOT of winches on 4 wheelers and side by sides that had a steel cable on them fray so bad they wouldn't reel back in. I have also seen people, me included, get one of the steel wires from a winch cable ran into their hands. Some cases were pretty bad. Personally I try to stay away from the steel cables.
