PostSubject: Windrock Ride Stories of Oct 8th   Windrock Ride Stories of Oct 8th EmptySat Oct 08, 2011 10:13 pm

Ok, for all of you that rode today post what trails and how the day went. For me, I got to the parking lot at 9am, and shortly after that Bamma-S (Lee) and his crew found me. I told them that I was suppose to meet badride and the last account that I had heard from him was that we were looking to run the 40trails and after that badride was going on to the WMA. I told Lee's crew that 49 was fun and that I wanted to know where the new trail (now #6) branched from it since we missed it last sat. and after that I needed to get home.

Ok, so we all left the parking lot me being tail gunner and roger leading. (thought my mind was decieving me as we past security-could of swore I saw gunrunner Suspect ).....We ran gravel to 41, 26 where we stopped (i think this is where I jumped in ahead of Archie because I knew he knows his way around. On 44 , me and the trex (josh) was ahead of archie and the bikes/4wheelers and following the front crew..then josh lost the leading pack. Next thng I know is that me and josh are alone runing 42 onto 48 and up thru 49. .. We should of turned left. onto 43 (missed all the hard stuff x20001 ).. Anyway, we ran 49 to 6 to gravel. And waited, then we back tracked to try to find everybody... So we ran 49 back to 42 gravel , 5, 19,24, 2, 1, parking lot and hook back up with Lee and his crew.. They kinda felt left hanging when badride took off on the WMA, but I told them that from the get go.
They wanted to do some more riding, so I took them up 22, 21, 4, 19....Haulin as on 22 I broke another damn hub--kept riding loosing brakes until it got into the caliper and motioned them on to 24 my way to the parking lot......No matter how the day goes, I always have a blast when I'm out running the Mt..Caint wait till next week-end! 971386

The young man with us that was riding the 250(did a good job for his 1st time at Windrock) had alot of trouble in the ruts and rocks on T-44.When we got to the top of T-44,we didn't see or hear anyone,so we took T-49 thinking we might catch up with everyone.Still didn't catch up so we went on over to the WMA area and finished with 60 something total miles.A little dusty, but still a good day. 780798

Yes you saw me, but you didnt stop scratch Roger knew we were coming, and i told him to tell you. We rode 36, had a rzr get stuck in a rut, then had one bend a tie rod, we had 43 machines with us, went up 44 where little smith broke a cv on the rhino, only about 1/2 the group wanted to try the 44 trail so some of us went up it and some went around and we met at the start of 41. We stopped at the stairsteps for some to climb then headed to the windmills. Had a good time.

I didn't know you guys were going to be there and I wasn't real sure that it was you that I saw as we were headed out. I'm near sighted and anything over 20ft is real blury-if I would have known for sure it was you , I most definetly would have stopped. I always carry a spare tie-rod that will fit the std and an extension for it to fit the S...hope th guy with the bent rod was able to finish out the ride... but yes, some of those 40 trails are real nerve racking for some..some of the new guys I met in Lees crew literally had the 833704 scared out of them... Sorry to have missed you guys but I'm glad everyone had a good time--thats what its all about 431114

I made sure the radios were in the charger Friday 431114 but I didn't remember to take them. madz At the top of 44 I turned left toward 43. I pulled far enough down the gravel so that everyone could make the sharp turn to the left. The RZR that had the bad starter was running so we only heard one person go by. We decided someone must have had a problem back down the trail so we thought it would be a good time to change the starter. After the starter was changed we went back down 44 to look for everyone. Since we never found you all we went back up and ran 43 then 42 where we had a small balance issue with an S and broke out the winch. We turned left at the top of 42 then ran 48 and 49 to the gravel and came out at Hwy116. I saw the tracks where Archie, Phil his son and the rest had turned up on to the pavement. Since they knew that our group was headed to WMA I assumed they knew I would catch them. I told Lee how to get back to Rattle Rock and I went off to chase down the rest of my group. I caught them at the split going down to Lower Moe's Trail. Archie and I both wondered how the XP would do on Lower Moe's since it is so tight. Much to my suprise it actually made it without having to cut any trees, although I did have to back up once after forgetting how wide it was and a tree reminded me. The XP can't keep up with an S through the tight tree section of Moe's but at least it will fit. We came out at the county line bridge where Archie, Phil's son and the other guy decided they were through and headed home. Phil and I turned left and went down to Patterson's cemetary where we turned right which goes across WMA again but turns into trail 12 which we ran to 13 then to 16, 18 where I was out of beer and pretty low on fuel so we turned off on Halfmoon road to the house. There isn't anything much better than finishing off the day's ride than going UP trail 12! I am ready to do it all again this coming Saturday. 547228

We always do. Some of them 50 w. We can talk for miles. I think it is a must when you have large groups. Our SxS Train was at least a mile long if not more.

729242 We all just missed each other by a hair at top of 44. the trex turned right and we stopped to hear but didn't hear anybody. You probablly heard me because that trex was quite. We ran 42, 48 back down to and up 49 over and over just knowing i would run into you guys---after that, I decided we could just be riding in circles all day looking for everybody and when we got down on 42 some where, I heard two machiens back toward 49. (i bet that was archie and the quad)....I felt bad that josh was seperated from his crew and I was needing to get home but decided to show him some of the scenic areas ( so I played tour guide and showed him the stair steps, rattle rock, the old damn and overlook on 24--he had never been on 24 and really liked it--luckly ran in to his crew in the parking lot and ran some more trails with them with a broken hub -ended up putting 56 miles on the rzr for 1/2 day of riding.

Yeah, it was a little hectic Saturday morning and I forgot to tell Jerry. Embarassed I didn't see you at the trail head. I stopped and talked to Ray (security guard) for a minute but didn't notice you all.

I got my hubs from UTV inc. But remember, I know I have one but I may have two stock front hubs left and 3 or 4 rear.

10-4 on that. TWRA book says so. This year Oct 29-30 and from Nov 5 till Jan 1 Orange is required even if you are Archery Hunting which runs until Nov 18. So dust off those Baby Oranges people. Helmet has to have orange and Walmart has Duct Tape that will work. We usually put a Strip on Top, Back and Sides that has always been what we do.
