This is not the super SS, just a new 800 model, looks as wide as a S but some other pics showed it had standard shocks on it. Maybe they now offer a wider standard version. New hood grill area, new speedo,

The soon to be released 2011 model lineup is sure to shock the current ATV and UTV industry. When Polaris Industries introduced the Ranger RZR model in 2008, they changed the way side by side vehicles were perceived. No longer were they just considered farm implements or job site work vehicle, they brought the "Sport" aspect to the market. Once again they are changing the market for 2011 with their new RZR lineup. Polaris is carrying over the names and models from the 2010 model year, but each model is getting a few substantial changes due to more competition from other manufacturers. The 2011 standard RZR will still be 50" trail compliant, but it will be getting upgrades in a few departments. There will be 3 motor choices for the 2011 RZR, an EFI 500cc twin cylinder will be offered with a base price of $6799. This new economy based RZR is for the owner who wants a sporty side by side but doesn't want the high price that comes along with one. The 800 H.O. engine will be the standard motor in the new RZR, which is carried over from the previous model year RZR-S. And an all new EFI 950 (941cc) twin cylinder power plant will be available in the spring of 2011 for the Limited Edition and Special edition RZR's (pricing is TBD). All of the 2011 RZR's feature an all new frame, which is 6" longer than the previous models to accommodate the new engine choices. Polaris engineers boast that the new frame is 60% stronger than the previous models. The 2011 Polaris RZR-S, and RZR-4 share the option of the 950 engine along with the SE and LE RZR's, along with the 800 H.O. engine from previous model years. The suspension travel is increased to 14" on both models due to a new trailing arm setup in the rear, and longer A arms in the front. All 2011 RZR models will have a ROPS certified roll cage made from 1 3/4" chromoly tubing, along with 4 point racing harness style restraints. A few cosmetic changes are evident on all new models which include new styled plastic fenders, a redesigned roll cage, and a more aggressive styled front end. The new Polaris 950 engine is going to be used in multiple platforms, from the Ranger RZR models to the new 3 wheel "Striker" road bike, which will be released in the summer of 2010. The 950 engine is rated at an impressive 97 horsepower and 76 ft-lbs of torque. <<<

Thought the 500cc RZR is interesting, especially since Yamaha discontinued the 450... someone, at least, is sensitive to the entry-level pricing in this market...

Also the 6" longer frame, and stronger frame on all models. Wonder how the new wheelbase will compare...

utv crap posted it on rf.net, sounds like the new 950 is basically the weber , since polaris bought weber this year.

yea that's what it sounds like. I'm more curious about what they did to the chassis and suspension? They say they have a whole new one coming out it will be interesting to see what they really changed up.

I call . As nice as it sounds, the article sounds like hype to me. I hope I am wrong and they produce this. BTW, What month is it where this article is written? Summer 2010 is here now.

Also with Can-am Spyder sales struggling, I don't think Polaris will be jumping into the alternative street bike scene anywhere in the near future.

The article was written recently, but it may or not be true, however the pics i posted of the new frontend shows they got that right. the dealer show is 2 weeks away then everybody will know what is really coming.

The only thing i worry about , is if thay really beefed the frame
up that much. just how much weight did thay add to it....

if its really heavy like the Can-Am , that will defeat the whole purpose..

I ant sure about that front end. I like the old one better....

Im with you Chris, I don't care for the front end at all.

I am still confused about all the Weber/Polaris deal. From what I understand Polaris didn't buy the company that builds Webers, they only bought the part of the company that does the engineering.

I went ahead and signed up on line for the Commander test drive this Saturday at Windrock. I HOPE to have my Weber car put back together by then so I can drive both of them on trail 1. Driving each on the same trail, one right after the other should give me a good idea as to how they coompare.

Ok, I have a dumb question. What is that in the picture above the seat belt picture? The one that shows part of the divider that covers up the CVT cover.

that's the smog pump module which is designed to monitor exhaust pressure and temps to allow the turbo to spool quicker for maximum boost!

Maybe its a fly by wire setup like the can am

I may be WAY off here. But after looking at it for a while, it looks to me to have a shaft which goes down toward where the torsion bar set up might be, IF that is what Polaris is going to. It may be a damper of some sort??????????????

it is some sort of switch of some type.
Now what it does , i dont have a clue........
