PostSubject: Slow leak...   Slow leak... EmptyFri Jun 04, 2010 1:04 pm

Got a slow leak from a 1/2 inch cut in my side wall next to the rim. What's your thoughts on using slime, fix-a-flat, or other such products to seal it? Guess what I'm trying to say is which one works the best.

Didn't explain it right the first time... There is a cut on the sidewall but after putting about 20lb of air in the tire & soaping it up, i can't find a leak anywhere.

I have seen small cuts sealed with a good grade of super glue, gorilla glue makes the best ive ever used.

slime will not stop a leak in the sidewall.unless you put a shitload in the tire.put around 10psi in the tire then use soapy water to look for it.

On slow leeks sometimes you can submerge the tire and watch for any new bubbles to show up. May be leaking around the bead.

One of the problems with a side wall cut (especially if it’s from a rim impact) is it may not leak until the weight of the unit causes it to flex in just the right way. You may want to inspect it with soapy water with the cut in several different positions. That being said I’ve seen plenty of sidewalls plugged and used for years.
