| Any of you guys having issues or had issues with your prop shaft being super loose on the splined shafts? I found a few on the rzrforums site that run through water and mud that have had the same issues. I ordered a new shaft, but dam! Every route to take is around $250 or higher. | |

| Mine is too. U joint seems fine and the side engagement of the splines seem to fit good, just the bottom or "root" of the splines in the yoke has gotten some wear to it. Mine is not making any noise, u joint is good, front yoke, diff bearings and all are good so I'm gonna grease the hell out of it and go but I will keep a close eye on it. Right now I can shift the yoke up and down t the u joint and it has about 1/8" or so of play, now if I twist the yoke there very little play. | |

| It is built with some slop so it doesnt bind up, just keep it greased and dont worry about it, many have logged many thousands of rough miles with no problem. | |

| My prop shaft has been loose for the past 2500miles. It did bind up once and made a loud pop, but after I greased the rear fitting it hasn't givin me any problems...If it aint broke, dont fix it. I've broken alot of stuff but no prop saft (yet). |

| I am not as worried about the prop shaft as I am the transmission. 3 out of 5 of us up here have loose prop shafts to were they are clanking. Mine sounded like it was coming through the seat the other day when i hit the rev limit. My buddy that has the 09-S had his take out his transfer case last week. It snapped the output shaft of the transfer case and dealer says it also toasted high gear in the transmission.
I ordered a new shaft and will install more then one grease fitting. I have had it serviced at the dealer every time it needed a oil change and it turns out they have never greased the prop shaft. We think that is what happened to my buddies 09-S as well. I am also going to drill fittings for the front yoke opposite of the pin. May be over kill, but I am not going to take the chance. My after market warranty is starting to get picky!

| I thought my U joints were good until I replace the front diff and still had the noise. Like folks say there is a little play from the factory. If its making a noise, IMO, its time to change them. I cant state this as fact....but I feel the loose front u joint contributed to my diff failing.
The S one is bigger. Precision #338 for the S model. The Precision # 812 is for the standard and it has a grease fitting.

| Yeah, you Polaris had problems when they changed to the 2010 S prop shaft. Not sure if joints are bad. But after totaling both yokes, joints, and time to replace joints I decided to go with the entire shaft. There is a place I found that sells HD version and it is balanced, but it is around $300. | |

I read where some use tube gasket material, inside the mating splines to help slow wear.

All I have seen mentioned is gasket material. I guess silicone wood work.

I feel very strongly that my loose u-joints had a lot to do with my front diff failing. I suggest replacing them before it happens to you.

Loose prop shaft creates more vibration.

| My universal joints feel fine with no play. Its that damn part at the rear of the shaft that slides over the output shaft of the transfer case. It reminds me a lot of this ole-bag I went out, but at least it doesnt smell the same. I thought about putting some vagisil in my grease gun and pumping some of that crap in it, the RZR that is. | |

Over on another site I read where some pump gasket material into the propshaft on the transfer case side before reassembling. Someone also mentioned silicon may help. I think I may have went out that chick too!

| One of these days I will meet you looney-toons! I get a kick out of this, but you guys know some shit. Its good to have people to get some information and experience on. I took out my front differential tonight and opened up. Gunny, you were right, I had a metal sprague cage in mine, to my relief. Everything was pretty clean it considering all of the mud and water i have been through. It really suprised me. I examined the workings and functions of how that thing works. Someone put a lot of thought into that damn thing I can tell ya that. One question, I have not consulted the shop manual yet, but the set screw on the front differential, how tight or loose should that be? Im thinking that is what I may have heard rubbing up there in the front. My prop shaft vibrates, but that shhhh, shhhh, seems to have been coming from the front. It would always go away when I engaged the 4wd, so I feel like I may have cornered it. I believe that plate and armature seem to work in conjunction with that set screw and plate somehow? Am I correct? Any thoughts form any of you, I all ears. I plan on reinstalling it this weekend. have to go pick up some fluid from Po-Po. Let me know?
